A Very Fine Lady

Film Review by Dean Duncan Jun 1, 2015

Fantastic? Make that fabulous! The standard, even tired, even potentially unseemly plot—pretty lady turns heads—is enlivened by the whole-hearted good humour of the performers, and by the skillful execution of the various gags. We have hoses (way better than the Lumieres, though that may not be a fair comparison), planks, ladders, Tati turn-arounds. Piled on, and consistently well done. A Very Fine Lady is also enlivened by this lovely location shooting; the story could stink and the film itself would still be a stunner. Great camera placement too.
