There are a number of McKimson cartoons that contradict a somewhat prevailing notion that his cartoons are a little bit pedestrian. This one, however, is a little bit pedestrian. There’s some nice working circus people stuff at the beginning. Work and its patterns always help a film. There’s a good intercutting bit with the sniffing lion and Bugs getting sniff-whipped around in his bed. There’s almost always something good going on in these cartoons. But they don’t always add up to something great.
