Saw #Austenland. Two films, battling: the 1st is ardent but prudent, decorous & self-empowering. A bit dull-ish …

… The 2nd film is more or less Rabelaisian, not too fit for polite company. #1 wins. Is their heart, is there more heart in #2? …

… As it were?

#Austenland. What are these 3 (& ½) Mormon ladies up to? Is this a tale of Modesty & the For the Strength of Youth handbook …

… battling against the Natural Man? Is this not that tale, but the actual battle itself? Is it Hale’s discreet Austen-homage …

… vying against Meyer’s implicit & Hess’s out-&-out body/bawdy-ness?

Or is #Austenland the sound of 1/2/3/& a ½ Mormon women taking arms against a sea o’ patriarchal/ideological …

… Church Education Systemic impositions on the subject of sex? Garbled, even partly bungled …

… but at least they’re discussing it! Important stuff, beneath the fluff.

#Austenland. Jennifer Coolidge deserves some kind of medal for actor-bravery. Or maybe she’s just crazy. Amazing, though!
