Eclipse of the Sun Virgin

Film Review by Dean Duncan Mar 26, 2015

Terrific titles, more exemplary use of all sorts of lush, multi-sourced music. The film comes up and fades down in a really nice combination of low-budget/pirate expediency, and practically Godardian critique. The colour design is also really admirable. This time it’s either fauvist elation or something subconscious; with the Kuchars, you figure, the analytical component is almost always at the point of reception, and not because of things they very concretely intend. Here’s George, extremely front and centre. Again, always—why can’t movies star people who look like this? The same goes with these various ladies, who, it must be admitted, are up to something or other that I can’t quite interpret very well.
