Going to the Fire

Film Review by Dean Duncan May 27, 2015

Hold on—they really are going to a fire, aren’t they? As such, no one is thinking to pan around to watch the engines pass. Nor are they loading up and hustling over to film what might have been a dramatic sequel, Arriving at the Fire. It’s not fair to expect that they would, and anyway, being outside is exciting enough. At this point—still, too, if we want—motion pictures are helping people to realize such sweet and simple things in ways that they had not done before. And having something cool happen over and above the novelty and the incipient beauty that it reveals, is pure gravy.
