High Diving Scene

Film Review by Dean Duncan May 27, 2015

Just about perfect. The camera is placed just right, compositionally. Well, nearly just right. The high diver in question does just fly up out of the frame, such that they have to tilt up a bit to find him. Unfortunately, they don’t manage to do so, which means we actually miss the apex of the stunt. So, the film is a tad imperfect. But the aspiration, the brave attempt to try to capture what’s happening, more than makes up for that. You still get this amazing flight, the amazing trajectory and the thrilling landing. Then, as a topper, the dashing diver climbs up on the platform and waves, though not to the cheering throngs behind him. He waves to us.

Things are changing in the world!
