Hyde and Hare

Film Review by Dean Duncan Jul 13, 2015

Jekyll is funny, as is Bugs trying to move like an actual rabbit. “Carry me.” Someone around here knew something about kids, or about self-imposed infantilization. Bugs is a fine piano player. “I wish my brother George were here,” he says. “Oh—that failing of mine.”

The Hyde/addiction thing is quite well-judged. Bugs, being the impulsive harlequin, drinks the concoction, which actually makes for an interesting variation or furtherance of the root story. However, the cartoon itself is finally a disappointment. Some of the comic elaboration is same-y. (Except maybe for the eyes in the closet.) The green guys are unattractively designed. It kinda bugged me. I could be wrong.
