This subject is very interesting and important. The filmmaker provides a reasonable overview, but is especially concerned with giving us an individual view of the whole thing. That, in addition to the really adept mixture of visual media, is the greatest, sometimes most chilling contribution. The things these people did, and the way the regime made them do it! This next isn’t negative, though it might not be great either. Sunrise Over Tiananmen Square does suggest a somewhat dutiful undertaking, a wholly justified bit of diversity and voice-fostering. So it’s good, and good for you. Not quite great though.
