The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

Saw #TheHobbit. Martin Freeman has a whole Jack Lemmon’s toolbox full of comic tics & tricks. He’s nearly mannered …

… He’s finally most impressively, most extremely adept.

#TheHobbit. Naysayers! I beg to differ, & quite vociferously. Why complain? Yes, pure & excessive spectacle can stupify …

… But add all this cool exposition & digression, add this ingratiating showman’s inexhaustible affection & generosity …

… and you & your family get saga, Romance & resonance. You get something of the tradition of storytelling, with all of its deep sociability …

… its communal & familial benefits. If you want, you get Love at Home. You’re grumpy. Fair. We’ll choose to be grateful.

Fast forward. Re-saw #TheHobbit. Love it! Realized that my life has also been reduced to doilies & a deep concern …

… for my mother’s dishes. Realized that I deemed this a conspicuous success!
