The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring

I have just revisited #FellowshipoftheRing, (extended), in the company of my various kids. We LOVED it in ’01, & still love that (shared) memory …

… Now? The joins show, of course. “Tomorrow, & tomorrow, & tomorrow creeps in this petty pace from day to day …”

… No problem there. The joyful, ca. 2001 brandishing of all of this technology, in the service of something deeper & more beloved …

… still registers, undiminished. More, surprisingly, the film now seems too hasty! Like H-cock’s Saboteur? Tremendous set pieces, great high points …

… and a bit thin sometimes, in between. Let me go against a prevailing & bilious grain here. Jackson’s 3-pt. Hobbit has it right!

#FellowshipoftheRing. One-note Wood! Or, Jackson’s Frodo is to Tolkien’s as Disney’s Pinocchio is to Collodi’s.
