The DVD adds patriotic music to what would otherwise be a completely neutral (excellently composed) view. As Roland Barthes would suggest, captions work that way too, or even adjectives and adverbs. I guess we can decide that it’s helpful, as much as we can choose annoying. There’s another option though, though maybe not so viable in a commercial setting. Just be quiet. Let us decide for ourselves!
